Which city would you rather visit? Sydney Australia or Toronto Canada?

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

Tough choice…But I would venture to Sydney. Never been there and the climate is more suitable to me

——

I would rather visit Sydney, because I would rather venture into a new continent, and new country. I live in Canada, so it wouldn’t be a BIG BIG different experience. But traveling to a whole new continent, would feel so awesome! Seeing all the people with cool accents and possible a kangaroo seems surreal to me.

Can you really die peacefully?

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

My mom says that my cousin, who passed away this morning, died comfortably and peacefully. Can you give me an honest answer, whether or not you think you can die comfortably and peacefully?

I’ve seen a lot of people die in the hospital, and as a rule I’d venture to say that the vast majority die peacefully. Death itself is usually a calm affair unless we’re shocking them and doing chest compressions, etc. trying to get them back, and if we are doing all that, I very much doubt that they are aware of what is going on at that point. The hours, days, etc. leading up to death seem to be the more uncomfortable part in most people. Even that is eased usually with pain medications and by support of loved ones, and often by faith. In traumatic deaths, most people are in shock long before they die and are usually completely unaware by the time they get close to death. I bet your cousin did die peacefully. If you feel peace in your heart as you think about that, I think that’s your best answer, confirming that what your mom said is true.

——–

I definitely think that you can die peacefully and comfortably. When my mom died 3 years ago, my dad said that she died peacefully. I think that dying peacefully means that the person didn’t have or express any pain. When a person is dying peacefully and comfortably, they might look calm and relaxed.

Why does feminism destroy male/female relationships so thoroughly?

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

Feminism at its core is destructive to the women that serve it!! So it stands to reason that it will destroy everything it comes in contact with. A real man is NEVER going to put up with the disrespect that flows from a feminists mouth and a feminist doesn’t have the balls to be challenged by a man who won’t put up with her crap!! Therefore relationships… ruined.
So the only men that fems can find are those who have been emasculated by feminist mothers that have been beating them down since birth. And because the relationship is unbalanced its doomed to fail also.
So in conclusion… feminism sucks all the way around…

——

Feminism doesn’t destroy male/female relationships. It’s when people are self righteous about their beliefs that does, which some feminists are. These people have given feminism a bad name, but people forget, without feminism women wouldn’t be able to vote or wear pants or own property or earn money.

Since when? They seem pretty good to me. They also seem pretty good to every feminist here who is either married or in a relationship.

Feminism is a sexist, bias and divisive ideology that create division between men and women.

With gas prices at record levels, how are India and China’s economies still growing so fast?!?

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

I don’t understand it…we’re paying more than $4 a gallon and are quickly sliding into a really deep recession here in America, but India and China aren’t exactly big oil-producing nations!

Why isn’t their economies slowing to a grind as well?

Consider this though, China is Communist, the “State” buys the gas, thus fixing the consumer price any where they want. Since they buy in such great quantity, they can do as they wish. India is staffing the world’s Internet services and paying their people dirt. A bicycle in India is a prized possession. There are far fewer people over there that own vehicles. We on the other hand, have vehicles that sit in the garages and are used during the summer, that’s where the rub really is. If a “Big Boy Toy” tax was instituted I bet gas wouldn’t be as hard to get or cost nearly as much. Did you know, at least 25 cents per gallon is just sales tax? And there’s federal taxes and profit mark ups as well? Profit driven everyone of them.

—–

I think your premise is kind of off. Yeah, the economy is in bad shape, but it isn’t simply gas prices rising by $1/gallon up from where they were last year. The typical American uses about, what, 20-25 gallons a week. So it’s about 50 dollars more per weak for the average family. This is a difference, but you can adjust to it. And many are. But, to be outraged is simply to admit to prior ignorance. I think you could see this coming for years.

Their economies are not slowing to a grind because they are not the same economies as us. Gas prices are affecting the economy, but not as much as insufficient demand. The Fed doesn’t lower interest rates so people can barrow it for gasoline! LOL, it’s to increase investment spending which is the primary source of economic growth.

The goverments are subsidizing it and keeping the price down artificially.

Who knows where to get original PORK Gyros in Chicago?

Monday, June 9th, 2008

‘m tired of the mixed fatty ‘whatever’ you get sold in Chicago as Gyros. Looking for a place that makes pork Gyros, who knows such one?

probably somewhere along Halsted St in Greektown

or a shop that sells polish sausages, burgers, and hot dogs

I need a good recipe for a bone-in chicken thigh and the few things in my cabinets: garlic, onion, soy sauce..

Monday, June 9th, 2008

You could take your Chicken Thigh and rub it with your Thai Chili Sauce and Oil (canola or vegetable oil would be great) and let that set for about 1/2 hr. to one hour. Then, put that seasoned chicken into a baking dish with your soy sauce and a little chicken broth (chicken bouillon and water: One bouillon cube for 1 cup of water) and bake it, uncovered for about 35-40 minutes, or until the internal temperature is 165 for the chicken, especially bone in chicken. Then saute your onions, garlic and Oyster Sauce in a hot pan then use this as a sauce for your chicken when it’s done cooking. Serve with freshly steamed veggies or some sort of wild rice or any potatoes and you will eat like your Mother is still at home and take pride in the fact that YOU made it! Good Luck and Happy Cooking! A cooks note: smoothe move to realize that the taste of a freshly made home cooked meal can make you appreciate your Mother and real food!

Is the Insignia 26″ LCD HDTV any good?

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Been on the market for a new tv, this one is cheap and even some $900 sets don’t have 1080i. At anyrate, price is always a factor and this set goes for about $400. Model number is NSLCD26F

NO, it’s junk. Tied for first in 26″ LCD, for BOTH performance and reliability, are Panasonic and Sony. Next, and a little less expensive, but still good quality, is Toshiba followed, perhaps, by Sharp. Do yourself a favor and don’t buy cheap ‘no name’ junk. You’ll regret it!

Out of these vegetables and herb plants, which one can be planted together? Help needed ASAP?

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

Bonjour. (: So last weekend at the farmers market, I bought 14 little plants to do some container gardening with since I live in a town house, so here’s my question, I just bought 5 13.5 quart pots for them, so which ones can I plant together out of these?
Better boy tomato- Full sn
raider cucumber- Full sun
Early red pepper- Full sun
Sugar snap peas - full sun - grow 8″ tall
Red Knight sweet pepper - Full sun
Jet start tomato - Full sun
Little finger egg plant- Full sun
Yellow Zucchini, not sure if it needs full sun or not, didn’t say on the card
Summer squash Full sun

Herbs:
Greek Oregano - FUll sun
Winter thyme - Full sun
Catnip - Sun or part shade

Ans:

-Planted with anything, catnip will deter cats from venturing further. Protects against flea beetles, and attracts bees. For this plan, it will go well with the eggplant.
–Lettuce can be planted with peas because they keep each other’s pests off. Since they will both finish early in the season, you can put your peppers in with it.

–Oregano should be planted near cucumbers to repel cucumber beetle.
–Plant the zucchini and squash singularly. They will need all the space they can get.
–Is it possible to get some more pots? If so, put a tomato in each. If not, plant the zucchini and squash together and put the tomatoes in the other.
The potting soil you have will work perfectly!

——–

Hi! You may have to get more containers! The catnip goes with the eggplant…and you could put that with one of the peppers. The peas can go with the cucumber. The thyme and oregano can go with the tomatos. the squash and zuke can go together and both need full sun. The other tomato can go with the other pepper. I think that covers all of them.

Yes, you can use the potting soil you have. check out gardenguides.com and look at companion planting for more ideas!

Is there a politician, scientist, or AGW advocate who’s living a truly green lifestyle for everyone to see?

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

I’m not asking about those who still fly private jets and then put solar panels on their roofs or deal in carbon trading. I mean someone who moved into a smaller home, gave up driving, flying, limos, etc. If yes, who? If no, why?

op 5 green actors according to About.com: http://greenliving.about.com/od/culturec…

One of the best examples is Ed Begley Jr.

“Begley’s entire home is self-sufficient, powered by solar and thermal power, which also provides the juice for his electric car. At one point in time, he apparently refused to fly altogether, even foregoing environmental events to save energy. ”

http://www.therenewableplanet.com/green/…

……

You did find some a good example, so I have to give you the BA. Though I think that some of these actors/celebritites are probably a little different. They’re probably less political, global warming economic/tax/trading/raising the price of commodities scheme, and more true environmentalists.

…….

You seem to misunderstand the problem. We don’t have to all move too little houses and become vegetarians to solve the problem of global warming. We can still have a thriving economy and many enjoyable luxuries in life. But we have to significantly reduce our CO2 emissions, any way we can.

While you may belittle putting solar panels on a house or buying carbon credits, those very things are doing exactly what we all need to do. They are reducing the amount of CO2 emissions a person is generating.

If you have a large house, but it’s heated with clean renewable energy, you’re combating global warming. If you own a Hummer, yet car-pool and plant trees, you may be doing more to combat global warming than someone that drives their Hybrid 50,000 miles/year and doesn’t plant trees.
